Allocation of Places

APPENDIX 14

1.

Allocation of places in Form 1 of aided secondary

schools shall be made according to such scheme as the Director

may from time to time determine.

(a) The scheme for allocation of places in Form 1 of

aided secondary schools shall normally be, that

90% of such places are allocated on the results of

the Secondary School Entrance Examination, while

the remaining 10% of places may be filled at the

school's discretion.

(b) Exceptionally, however, in the case of older-

established schools, the Director may determine:

(ii)

that 81% of Form 1 places be allocated on

the results of the Secondary School Entrance

Examination, 10% of places be used for pupils

repeating a year in Form 1, and 9% of places

be allocated at the school's discretion;

that 85% of such places be allocated on the

results of the Secondary Schools Entrance

Examination and 15% of places be allocated

at the school's discretion.

Places becoming available from time to time in

forms higher than Form 1 of an aided secondary school may

be filled at the discretion of the school principal.
