Data Preparation and Verification
The completed questionnaires were centrally controlled for computer
card punching, data processing and verification.
Checking of punching errors was done both manually and by computer
verifier.
The ICL survey analysis package was used for data validation.
Such
a validation programme would reject all cases with logical errors or
field errors. Any errors thus detected were checked and corrected manually
by referring back to the corresponding questionnaires.
Data analysis was done on the ICL 1904A computer using a programme
based on the SPSS package.
Final tabulation of results are appended to this report in two
parts, one covering the interviews with employers and the other those
with employees.
