day, it being understood that the additional wage resulting from the delay may not exceed a half of the full wage due to the worker. Moreover the judge shall be entitled to limit the amount of this additional wage so that considered fair in the circumstances.

Any amount which deviates from any provision of this article shall only be valid in respect of workers whose daily wage as expressed in money, is more than eight guilders.

Article 1602r

Except upon the expiration of employment, only the following

can be deducted from the worker's wage:

compensation owed to the employer;

2. fines owed to the employer according to article 1601u,

provided that the employer gives written evidence stating the amount of each fine, when and for what reason it was imposed and quoting what provision in the employer's regulation of the written labour contract has been violated;

the contribution to a fund, which according to the second paragraph of article 1601 s has been paid by the employer in the interests of the worker;

the rent for a house, an enclosed space, a piece of land ortools or equipment used by the worker in his own business, which have by written contract been rented to the worker by the employer;

the purchasing price of household and daily needs, not including alcoholic drinks and opium, and primary as well as secondary materials used in the worker's own business, everything given by the employer to the worker, provided that the worker has given a written statement containing the reason for and the amount of his debt, and provided that the employer does not charge more than the purchasing price, such purchasing price being not more than the price at which the worker could have bought the goods at another place;

advance payments of the worker's wage, provided these are shown in the written statement referred to in the preceding paragraph;

any payment made in excess of the wage due;

8. expenses for hospitalization and medical care which

according to article 1602x are payable by the worker.

Article 1601 s

Any agreement made between an employer, an employee representing him, or a foreman, and a worker working under any of these, whereby the worker finds himself to make use of his wages or any other income or part thereof in any particular way or to obtain his needs at a particular place or from a particular person is forbidden and shall be null and void.
