Every person travelling on a

train, unless exempted from the payment of

fare by or under the Ordinance, shall when

required to do so -

(a)

produce his ticket to any railway

employee authorized to examine

tickets; and

(b)

deliver up his ticket to any

railway employee authorized to

collect tickets, and

if such person fails to so produce or deliver

up his ticket he shall be liable to pay

double the appropriate maximum fare for

the route over which trains operate unless

he can prove that he has travelled a

lesser distance, in which case he shall be

liable to pay double the appropriate fare

only from the place whence he has

travelled.".
