Since the proposed amendments do not in any way adversely affect the right to submit a statutory claim for structural damage or a claimant's right to redress, no adverse public re- action is anticipated. However, to ensure that there is no mis- understanding a press release, to explain the reasons for the amendments, will be issued when the bill is gazetted.
Advice Sought

Members will be asked to advise whether the Mass Transit Railway (Land Resumption and Related Provisions) (Amendment) Bill 1978 should be introduced into the Legislative Council.
(The Secretary for the Environment (Mr D. J. C. JONES), the Mass Transit Adviser (Mr A.H. WILKINS) and the Law Draftsman (Mr G. P. NAZARETH) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
