In the long-term it is proposed to administer the school fee

remission system centrally through a computerized system. The

original intention was to introduce such a system in respect of the

intake of students to Form I in September 1978. The proposal to abolish

fees in junior secondary classes with effect from the 1978-79 academic

year has now rendered this unnecessary but planning is underway for

centralizing fee remission in respect of senior secondary forms.

Paragraphs 33-34: Head 41 - Information Services Department,

Subhead 999 010 Publication receipts

20.

With regard to the publication "The Queen in Hong Kong", the

Director of Information Services advises that over 5, 200 copies have

now been sold and production costs almost recovered. He hopes that

active sales promotion will further reduce the balance of unsold copies.

The Director of Information Services also advises that he is now

promoting the sale of the remaining copies of the publication to schools.

Paragraph 35: Head 49 - Medical and Health Department,

21.

Subhead 103 Payment for medical and health services

001 British Military Hospital

Verification of accounts submitted by the British Military

Hospital prior to 1st April 1977 is continuing and appropriate adjustments

are being made where necessary. Payment is now made only in respect

of persons verified as Government Entitled Patients, and a new

system to minimise difficulties over verification of accounts, due

mainly to inaccuracies in writing names, is to be introduced which

should greatly improve the present system.

22.

So far as recoveries from patients are concerned, demand notes

in respect of all but two cases have now been issued; of these one

concerns a private patient not referred by a Government medical

institution for which there is no liability, and the other a patient who

cannot now be traced and will be subject to write-off action.
