Shock. As for standard RN vessels DG Ships to advise suitable wording
RATTAM. The main magazine should provide protection against hand
held small arms and, if possible, should be below the waterline. This
is not to the RATTAM scale but is in accordance with NMER 5103(a). Ready-
use stowages and fixed ammunition supply arrangements (57 mm) in exposed
positions should be protected to RATTAM A(1).
ARMOUR (Part C, paragraph 2a refers)
(1) Bullet proof glass in the Bridge windows is desirable.
(2) The Bridge superstructure is to be protected by plates of
MACROLON or similar material. (NOTE:
MACROLON is lightweight
plastic type armour currently used by the Army to protect vehicles
against LV rounds.)
MAIN AND AUXILIARY MACHINERY
a. Main and Slow Speed Propulsion. In accordance with Part A, paragraph 5.
NOTE: Although it is anticipated that the Machinery Spaces will be unmanned, they will require very adequate ventilation in view of high ambient
temperatures/humidity in the operating area to reduce equipment deterioration and to facilitate defect repairs/maintenance at sea. DG Ships to specify the
necessary temperature and humidity levels based on the requirements of the
selected machinery
b. Auxiliary Machinery. The principal auxiliary machinery can be either diesel or electric driven. (Note in a. above also refers to auxiliary machinery
spaces).
C. An upkeep by exchange policy should be applied to the main and
auxiliary machinery and simplified by the provision of adequate shipping
routes in the craft design. (Fart J refers.)
