OMINATION OF REPLACEMENT PERSONNEL

15. Single-Service departments of MOD are responsible for nominating and preparing their own Service replacements. After consultation with Headquarters Strike Command (HQ STC), replacements are to be despatched to departure airfields.

MOVE OF REPLACEMENT PERSONNEL

Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Strike Command (AOCINCSTC) is to provide aircraft and supporting elements to move the replacements.

If only small numbers of personnel are called forward and time allows, scheduled flights may be utilised.

AIR OPERATIONS

17.

Air Routes. The primary deployment route will be Westabout. However, if diplomatic clearances can be obtained at the time for overflight and staging facilities, an Eastabout route may be used with a reduction of deployment time. The Westabout Route is as follows:

Diplomatic Clearance. If the number of replacements required in Hong Kong makes it necessary to provide a special airlift, it will be necessary to obtain clearances for overflight and staging facilities with action taken as follows:

2. Ministry of Defence (Air Force Department) (MOD(Air)) in consultation with the FCO, is to decide on the route to be used and initiate appropriate requests for diplomatic clearance.

b. The FCO, after consultation with MOD(Air) is to seek appropriate diplomatic clearance:

(1) Westabout Route.

From the US Government for overflight and staging facilities, and from the Philippines Government for overflight clearance. It will also be necessary to inform the Canadian Government of the intended use of their facilities.

(2) Eastabout Route. For overflight and staging facilities on the route selected.

IMPLEMENTATION

19. G Day/G Hour.

G day/G hour is the Date-Tine Group of the signal from the Chiefs of Staff ordering the plan to be implemented.

20. H Hour. H hour is the time at which the first aircraft carrying replacements departs.
