ARMY

Under command of Headquarters Land Forces are:

a. The Gurkha Field Force. This is based at Sek Kong in the New Territories and contains:

One British Infantry Battalion based on Hong Kong Island.

Three Gurkha Infantry Battalions based in the New Territories.

One Gurkha Engineer Regiment of two field squadrons in support.

One Aviation Squadron equipped with Gazelle Helicopters.

One Transport Regiment of three transport squadrons.

The Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers) under operational command (see Para 20).

One Intelligence and Security Company.

One Army Information Team.

A military hospital with 200 bed capacity.

A composite ordnance depot.

A command workshop.

Brigade of Gurkhas. Hong Kong is the base for the Brigade of Gurkhas. Their Headquarters are in Victoria Barracks and their Training Depot is in Sek Kong.

d. Hong Kong Military Service Corps. The Hong Kong Military Service Corps is a force of locally enlisted Chinese soldiers. They fall broadly into three categories: drivers employed mainly in the transport regiment, general duty soldiers employed as guards for camp security, and tradesmen employed for duties of a technical nature.

Command The Commander RAF (HK) is a Group Captain whose headquarters are located at RAF Sek Kong.

b.

Units. The principal units are:

(i) 28 Squadron Based at RAF Sek Kong, in the New Territories, and equipped with eight Wessex helicopters for support of the defence and security forces and SAR duties.
