When a map contains only the boundary of Hong Kong and the New Territories but where adjacent or other sheets in the same regional or world series include other international boundaries then the production agency is to consult Survey 3, Directorate of Military Survey for guidance on the treatment of the Hong Kong boundary.

Where appropriate, the following sovereignty annotations may be used:-

BOUNDARY DISCLAIMERS
12. A boundary disclaimer is to be shown on all maps which include the territory of Hong Kong that are produced by the Director of Military Survey or his Assistant Director, Hong Kong.
a.
The note to be shown in the lower margin, in small type, is as follows:-
"Maps produced under the direction of the Director of Military Survey are not to be taken as necessarily representing the view of the UK Government on boundaries or political status"
Where appropriate "the Director of Military Survey" should be replaced by the following:-

"the Assistant Director of Survey Hong Kong"
Where appropriate the words "charts" or "graphics" may replace "maps" in the disclaimer note.
