Mr A J Hunter (Personnel Services Department)
VISIT TO HONG KONG
1.
At the suggestion of Lord Goronwy-Roberts and Kong Kong and General Department, I am undertaking a visit to Hong Kong on behalf of Economists' Department (Mr Fergusson's minute to me of 24 February, copied to you, refers). I shall be leaving London on 16 April, arriving Hong Kong on 17 April, and staying till approximately the 22nd or 23rd. I shall thus overlap for 2 or 3 days with the visit to Hong Kong being paid by Mr J A B Stewart.
2.
The Secretary of State has also agreed that upon leaving Hong Kong I should go on to spend 2 or 3 days in Tokyo, for discussions on various aspects of the Japanese economic outlook. From Tokyo I shall be returning direct to London, probably on about 26 April.
