from the Education Department's decision to close the Golden Jubilee School in May, was effectively taken the heat out of this controversy. It would be interesting to know how things have gone at the start of the new school year (in particular, what proportion of the former pupils of the old school opted for the new school to be run on the original principles, and what proportion preferred the more conventional school, St Teresas, under the former Golden Jubilee principal Miss Kwang), and when we can expect to see the Huang Committee's final report.

Medical and Health Services.

The current programme to expand and improve medical care in the Colony involves, amongst other things, a 50% increase in the number of hospital beds by 1985/86, an expansion of facilities for maternity and child-health care, the establishment of a second

medical school and the creation of a Medical Service Development Advisory Board to review the progress of the whole programme.
