POLISH CONSULAR REPRESENTATION IN HONG KONG
1. Please refer to Iain Orr's letter of 3 July to me, of which you have, I believe, received a copy.
2. I would be most grateful for your advice on the following points:
(1)
(ii)
(iii)
(iv)
(v)
Is the Polish Consul-General the only one whose jurisdiction includes Hong Kong and, if not, which others do?
Is there any reason why the Hong Kong Government should publish such consular appointments in the Hong Kong Government Gazette?
Do the consular sections of London Embassies have a defined consular district (with particular reference to Czechoslovakia)?
Would the Hong Kong Government be obliged to grant a visa to either the Polish Consul-General or a Czechoslovak consular official from the London Embassy if they had specific business to deal with in Hong Kong.
Are there consular sections in other Eastern European Embassies and would their position over visas differ from that of Poland and Czechslovakia?
3. I should also be grateful if you could send me a copy of the current London Consular List and arrange for the Hong Kong Government to receive this regularly in future.
18 July 1978
