inimical to our prosperous capitalist
economy.
(b) Visits to China
(1) Visits to China have become very
popular in recent years.
This trend
is noticeable in many social groups, but is perhaps particularly signi- ficant amongst the bourgeoise. (2) There is now little inhibition
about a visit to China. The
previous apprehensions that some- thing untoward might happen to a Hong Kong visitor who was at one time a landowner, a capitalist or
a KMT official in Mainland China
have by and large been dispelled. It is widely known that oven Hong Kong residents who visit Taiwan frequently are no longer barred by the CPG. Some people even have the impression that CPG's agencies in Hong Kong are particularly keen to encourage Hong Kong residents
with known bias against the Communist regime to visit China.
(3) China Travel Services has succeeded
in building up a favourable image in Hong Kong, as an officient and helpful travel agency. Some
community leaders were impressed
