(a) To evolve and agree policy for the control of hawking activities.

management of hawking activities in the New Territories.

on the subject of hawker management has been discussed with relevant departments at an inter-departmental meeting on 17th January. An ExCo paper is now being drafted.

and management of hawkers is currently unsatisfactory and unnecessarily complicated. be necessary to overhaul this legislation, and it is currently thought that such an exercise would best be undertaken in conjunction with the major review of hawker policy which is now in hand.
(c) SNT has produced a paper on an action plan to control hawking activities in Tsuen Wan.
(b) Discuss legislative
proposals with
relevant departments and Legal Department in June/July.
(c) Monitor progress of
proposals set out in SNT's paper.
