Country Parks (ENV 30/15/01)

(a) To define the location and

boundaries of country parks and special areas.

(b) To administer and control country parks and special

areas.

(a) Further Country Parks at Plover Cove

and Lantau South were designated in April. The intention to designate areas at Lantau North and Pat Sin Leng was gazetted in April, and survey work on the boundaries of country parks at Tai Mo Shan and Tai Lam/Pat Heung is in hand.

(b) (i) AFD has prepared a 4-year

programme for the implementa- tion of country parks staffing. (ii) The provision of additional

posts and the recruitment and training of country parks staff is in progress.

(a) Designate Lantau

North Country Park by July and Pat Sin Leng Country Park by September.

(b) Monitor implementa-

tion of the AFD country parks staffing programme liaising with Finance and Civil Service Branches to ensure provision of the necessary funds and staffing

resources.
