The dispute with Post Office staff ended on

1st November with acceptance by the staff of a revised

package of proposals.

15.

As regards Dental Technicians, an O & M report

is expected to be ready by mid-December. Based on the

results of the report, quick action on promotion opportunities

and pay will be taken.

Assistant Labour Officers and Labour Officers

have demanded better pay scales similar to those for

Assistant Trade Officers and Trade Officers.

Basically,

the staff's requests for the amalgamation of the Labour

Officer/Assistant Labour Officer ranks and for a pay

increase are not supported. However, it is recommended

that certain Assistant Labour Officer posts should be

upgraded to Labour Officer level, which will enhance the

promotion prospects for Assistant Labour Officers. A

meeting among representatives of the Association, the

Labour Department and Civil Service Branch is scheduled on

2.11.78.
