Appeal to be heard during the current sitting of the Bermuda Court of Appeal

Trial was due to begin on 24 November.

The Governor intends to take his decision without the Committee's advice. He will announce commutation on 8 December.

Remarks

Accused has history of mental instability, and is said to have a mental age of 11. Johnson is black, his victim was white.

The Governor has said that he does not expect his decision to commute to lead to trouble, though it will not be

popular.
