As a democratic socialist party we believe the future of Belize must be determined by the people of the colony. We believe a commitment to the external defence of Belize by the United Kingdom Government must be kept. Unless alternative arrangements are made for a United Nations force or Commonwealth force. Until the external threat to Belize has ended."

"This CLP calls upon the Labour Government to immediately release from Risley Remand Centre, and to grant political asylum to, the Chilean sailor who jumped ship and asked for political asylum in this country. The presence of a Labour Government should be a guarantee of political asylum for all Chilean refugees who need it."

"This GMC calls upon the Government to act immediately to provide sufficient finance to the Chilean Resettlement Programme as administered by the Joint Working Group for the provision of intensive English classes for Chilean refugees now living in many parts of Britain.

"It is the moral duty of our Government to provide the neans whereby Chilean refugees living here can become working members of this society. It is also in the financial best interests of the whole British community that the refugees should not be forced to become long-term claimants on the DHSS.

"It should be noted that normal DES provision in the respect of language teaching is inadequate and often over-subscribed."
