INTER-PARLIAMENTARY UNION (IPU) SPRING MEETING
AP
1/2
1. The 1978 Spring meeting of the IPU, at which draft resolutions for the Annual conference will be formulated, is to be held in Lisbon in the last week of March. The British delegation (of Tour Labour and three Conservative MPs) will require briefs. In addition to those for the five committee topics already designated, contingent briefs on other matters will be needed, as well as a country brief. If additional requirements arise I shall let those concerned know separately. Meanwhile I should be grateful if addressees will treat this minute as a request for a brief on the subject indicated below to reach me at latest by close of play on Wednesday 8 March. Where more than one Department is mentioned I should be grateful if you will act in concert ·
2. Briefs should be on plain paper. You should use 'Britain' and 'British policy' rather than 'HM Government' etc when giving our views.
3. Eriefs should address themselves to a theme in which Britain has a particular interest rather than attempt too lengthy coverage of topics as described on the Agenda.
