I do not think there is anything to add to the three points (upkeep of Government House, leave passages and duty allowance) which you list.

3. My only comment would be that I think that most Governors have expressed the view that there should be annual leave passages rather than mid-tour leave passages. On balance, I share their view. Conditions vary, of course, and

I did not find my first two spells of eighteen months unduly long but this last stint, with a Royal Visit and the Gaston affair, has been very different.
