1. We spoke about Mr Hall's minute of 7 September. As I explained to you Mr Duff thinks it would be useful for the Governor to have a year's extension so that the other changes can be more easily fitted in. He sounded out Mr Guy when they had lunch last week and gained the impression that Mr Guy would be happy to stay in St Helena for ever!

2. I shall be minuting to you separately about Mr Kendall and Mr Gillett although it is difficult for us to form any firm impressions as we have little direct contact with them.
