Although nothing was included in the estimates for this particular item, Finance Department say that the subhead is underspent so there would be no problem about paying for the General's uniform. However, I do not think we should agree to the shirt-sleeve order items (4 shirts, 2 pairs trousers). These are meant for every-day wear, when a civilian would expect to wear informal clothes. I have spoken to Major Scoging and he confirms this. The 2 Day uniforms are military tropical ceremonial and the mess jacket and cummerband are for evening wear.
