Dear Sir,

I am directed by the Secretary of State for

Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs to offer you appointment

as Attorney General, Hong Kong on agreement for three

years, on the terms and conditions set out in this

letter and in the attached "Memorandum on Conditions

of Service" (GF 341A (HD)). This offer of appointment

is subject to your passing a medical examination to

be arranged by

The salary for the appointment is HK$21,600 per

month (Point DJL 7 in the Judicial/Legal Group of the

Directorate Pay Scale).

It is intended that if you accept this offer

of appointment, you should proceed to Hong Kong towards

the end of March 1979 on a date to be agreed, so as

to allow you a period of familiarisation and understudy

before assuming the duties of the office of Attorney

General. You will be eligible for full salary during

this period.

I shall be grateful if you will inform me in

writing whether you accept this offer of appointment

on agreement on these terms and conditions.
