HKGD: POSSIBLE UPGRADING OF THE ASSISTANT'S POST TO 5"S"

1. I have decided to take up your offer to try to obtain my being made a 5"S" even though I have established that Mr Morgan envisaged that this possibility should be reviewed six months after the amalgamation of the rump of G&GD with HKGD. I attach a draft of a minute which you might consider sending to the Head of PPD, which is, I think, the department which authorises upgradings to 5"S".

I cannot resist drawing your attention to paragraph 9 of part (i) of Mr Morgan's report, in which he discussed the Assistant's post in FED and to point out, at the same time, that the present Assistant in FED was made a 5"S" some months ago. I would not, however, wish to see you make this point in any minute you decide to send about my claim for a similar status.
