INSPECTION OF HONG KONG AND INDIAN OCEAN DEPARTMENT ·
$
1.
As you know, long-term recommendations in Part I of the Home Inspector's report on the future of Hong Kong and Indian Ocean Department are dependent on Ministerial approval of recommendations affecting Gibraltar and General Department. These would involve the transfer of Gibraltar Section to SED and the other two sections, namely Administrative, Judicial and Legal Staffing to HKIOD. The amalgamated Department would be named Hong Kong and General Department.
2. Meanwhile we have agreed with the Home Inspector that other establishment changes recommended in the main body of the report should not be further delayed. A list of these changes is
attached.
3. PPD are responsible for follow-up action on all recommenda- tions of the Home Inspector approved by the Chief Clerk under a new system started earlier this year. We will therefore be in contact with other departments concerned about the recommenda tions which they are responsible for implementing. (Summary of Recommendations in between Parts I and II of the Report refers).
