MANPOWER

The present staff of this central registry is:-
one-third
Grade 9
3 x Clerical Officers
Miss C Foulger
Mrs J Taylor
Mrs S A Trew
Mr C Bailey
Hong Kong, British Indian Ocean Territory
Seychelles
Hong Kong
one-third Paperkeeper
Mrs Lindsey
This Registry is accommodated in Room K 271 King Charles Street, with the Registries of Far Eastern and South-West Pacific departments. The desk officers are situated on the floor above the Registry, and papers requiring action are collected and delivered by the section clerks at irregular intervals.
SUPERVISION
2. Miss Foulger has been the supervising Grade 9 for the past two months and has a good knowledge of her duties and the work of the Department.
WORKLOAD
3. Over the period 5 January-26 March (12 weeks) the average number of new receipts registered by Mrs Taylor was 73 per weeks, Mrs Trew 101 per week and Mr Bailey 83 per week. There is a fair amount of photocopying in this Registry, which is at present done mainly by the Registry Officers, with some very occasional assistance from the Paperkeeper. We consider that the photocopying can easily be absorbed by the three Registry Officers and we therefore recommend that the one-third share by this Registry of the Paperkeeper be cut.
PROCEDURES
4.
The procedural faults are listed in the Annex to this Report. No Precedent Record is kept and Desk Officers may wish to consider whether such a record would be a useful retrieval aid (DSP Volume 12, Section B, Appendix XVII and DSP Volume 12, Section A, Appendix IV, paragraph 41(f)).
