105. On 6th July, 1976, Preventive Service officers searched Chinese males MA Leung-wai (7456/5328/1783) and Liu Kan-keung (1675/6855/1730) in the Hong Kong Airport Departures Hall as they were about to board a flight to Tokyo. As a result, a total of 989.6 grammes of methylamphetamine hydrochloride (a stimulant) was found concealed inside their swimming trunks and the soles of their shoes. MA and Liu were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession Of A Part I Poison. They were each sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment and fined HK$4,000 or a further 6 months' imprisonment in default of payment.

106. On 6th August 1976, acting on information, a party of Narcotics Bureau officers conducted a raid at a residential flat at 323, 1st floor, Shanghai Street, Kowloon. Inside the premises the officers discovered a cubicle containing a large quantity of Part I Poisons and Antibiotics. Chinese male CHAN Shiu-chuen (7115/4801/6898), the tenant of the cubicle, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession Of Part I Poisons and Unlawful Possession Of Antibiotics. He pleaded guilty and was fined HK$1,000 and HK$800 respectively.

107. On 16th November, 1976, Chinese male LEE Chung-leung (2621/1813/5328) was inter- cepted by Preventive Service officers at Hong Kong Airport as he was about to board a flight for Tokyo. A body search revealed 529 grammes of ephedrine hydrochloride tied around his abdomen and calves. LEE was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession Of A Part I Poison for which he was fined HK$1,000. Following application for review of sentence by the Attorney General, LEE was sentenced to an additional 9 months' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.
