54. On 18th August, 1976, acting on information, Preventive Service officers searched the shore of Basalt Island, resulting in the seizure of 8 sacks of narcotics hidden under some bushes. The seizure comprised 41.884 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 33.215 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine, 7.209 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 2.407 kilogrammes of salts of esters of morphine (No. 3 heroin), and 228.6 kilogrammes of raw opium. No arrest was made in connection with the seizure. 55. This seizure is believed to have formed the remainder of the consignment of 706 kilogrammes of raw opium seized by Narcotics Bureau officers on Bluff Island on 14th August, 1976 (Paragraph 44 refers).
