There has been, and will continue to be, plenty of outdoor manual work, which is regarded as an important part of the rehabilitation process for drug addicts. Security is facilitated by the fact that the Centre is on an island, where there are no local inhabitants. However, if penal institutions are to remain on the island, permanent staff quarters will have to be built to replace the present sub-standard barrack type accommodation.
