As per 15th March, 1977 Mr. G.F. de Gooijer, a police superintendent, has been appointed to the Royal Netherlands Embassies in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, with residence in Bangkok. a Special Attaché Mr. de Gooijer is in charge of co-ordinating the fight against the narcotics trade in the area.

In view of the Hong Kong authorities' reluct-

ance to grant accreditation to non-resident

diplomats Mr. de Gooijer has not been likewise

appointed to the Netherlands Consulate-General in the Colony, but said authorities have promised to render him all possible assistance in the perform- ance of his duties.

It is in view of the frequent visits Mr. de Gooijer will pay to Hong Kong that the Netherlands Government wish to provide the above background

information.
