AN ITINERANT DUTCH POLICEMAN

1. Miss Margaret Bot, Third Secretary in the Dutch Embassy here, came in to see me and Tom Duffy yesterday afternoon to hand over a memorandum (copy attached) on the appointment of a Dutch policeman to their Embassies in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok as a co-ordinator in the fight against drug trafficking. You will see that the memorandum makes a special point of the fact that you have apparently refused to grant accreditation to Mr de Gooijer, but Miss Bot appeared relaxed about this and did not pursue it, being far more interested in general Hong Kong matters.
