72. On the evening of 15th June, 1976, a party of Narcotics Bureau officers conducted a raid against a heroin packaging centre in Jordan Rd., Kowloon. As the officers were forcing entry into the 10th floor flat they saw a number of items being thrown from a window; these were later recovered and found to be packages of heroin and an enamel bowl bearing traces of heroin. The two men in the flat attempted to escape by climbing down a drainpipe. One fell and broke his leg and was arrested. The other escaped but was arrested a short while later in a flat in Ma Tau Wai Rd.,
Kowloon.
73. A search of the flat revealed additional heroin, heroin packaging equipment and chemicals associated with the 'cutting' of No. 3 heroin. The total heroin seized comprised 1.4976 kilo- grammes of a mixture containing 349.2 grammes of salts of esters of morphine. The two arrested persons, Chinese males NG Chung-shing (0702/1350/2052) and NG Chun-ching (0702/6966/6297) have been jointly charged with Possession Of Dangerous Drugs For The Purpose Of Unlawful Trafficing. They are awaiting trial.

74. On 17th February, 1976, Preventive Service officers searched Australian male Donald Raymond JONES on his arrival at Hong Kong Airport from Bangkok. JONES was found to be in possession of 27 packets containing 3.54 kilogrammes of cannabis hidden in the false bottom of his suitcase. Ensuing enquiries led to the locating of another Australian male, Anthony John HOLDEN, who had arrived from Bangkok on the same flight. HOLDEN was discovered in a guest house in Chung King Mansions, Kowloon, in possession of two false bottomed suitcases containing a total of 7.326 kilogrammes of cannabis.
75. JONES and HOLDEN were jointly charged with Trafficking In A Dangerous Drug and each sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment.
