Served

Air Force in which he obtained a commission as a pilot officer.

in Air Force for 2 years then joined Hong Kong Police in 1958. As to his service in the Police Force it has always been excellent until now

and he was highly commended by Commissioner of Police for his service during the 1967 disturbances. He is married with 2 young daughters aged 8 and 6 and I believe he has always bean an exceptional devoted husband and father and a custodial sentence will of course bring upon his family

great suffering. They returned to England and so unlike most people

serving prison sentences if given custodial sentence will have no prospect

of visits from his family. He will of course be dismissed and but

for case he would have prospect of another 12 years - loss of

remuneration and pension rights will far exceed the amount with which

the Crown allege he was involved in case. after 20 years of service with the Crown after a custodial sentence very difficult for him to

rehabilitate himself and it is absolutely disaster for him. He will

lose his pension rights and good character which up to now was

exceedingly good and I feel it must count. le by no means played a major part in offence in fact evidence Your Honour accepted it was comparatively minor deed evidence of Blackburn and police general

orders it would seem unlikely that as 403 he would be in position to

take any great part in what was going on. Indeed no evidence forthcomi.g

he did anything in furtherance of the conspiracy. That is also consistent with hir unlikeliness to do anything under the Police General orders. In this case amount of money referred to cases of Lau Cheong Wa himself or Superintendent Temple is comparatively small and as conceded case of Temple, he had not actually done anything. Ack Your Honour to

deal with him on same basis he did not do anything in furtherance of
