Hampton is away on leave and I have instructions of 1st defendant to represent him to day. 1st Defendant is 49 years of age, his wife 44 years of age he has 2 children aged 10 and & and he was responsible for their support. His wife and children are living in United Kingdom and his 2 children are receiving a state âucation in dngland. Defendant has no other immediate family. Defendant was due to retire from the police force on 31/3/75 and the reason for early retire- ment was his wife's poor mental health. Only thing I wish to add concern-- ing 1st defendant's career is that firstly he joined Royal ilavy in 1944 at age of 17 and served during 2nd World war in the horth Atlantic and subsequently served with Royal Navy in the Mediterranean and avarded
General Service Medal in Palestine during this period. police career in Hong Kong he received commendations entry for saving life of a drowning police constable in 1954, Commissioner' commendations for saving a police launch and lives of 28 men on board in 1964, in 1967 he received Governor's high commendation for part played by him in the riots.
