I produce 2 lists (Exhs. P70 & P71) (Certified translations P70A & P714)

The

The figures on the top of the documents represent the dates

of the month. The Chinese characters on the left hand side

are names of gambling and drug establishments.

establishments are grouped in 2 groups names in 1st batch are those in Causeway Bay and those in the 2nd

batch are those in Shaukiwan. The figures represent

the amounts received each day. The ticks represent

that the amounts have been received against the date. The figures in pencil above the ticks are the actual

amounts received. Amounts were told to me by Al Luk.

Those spaces where ticks do not appear daily represent weekly payments, once a week. (P70A referred) 5 Kee 240 20% off". The amount $240 was the actual amount

received. The full amount against date 15th should be $290. After reduction of 20% the actual amount received

was $240. "Po Kee (20% off) 240" $290 was the full

amount to be paid but $240 was actual amount received

with 20% off. I don't know why there was 20% off - he

gave me this information and I just recorded it.

"Wing

Kee (20% off) 222". The full amount to be paid was $270

but the actual amount received was $222 after reduction

of 20%. "Cimen Kee (20% off) 385". All the ticks without

pencilled marked figures along that line represent that

full amount had been paid but the pencil mark figures

represent the actual amount paid on those days. Again

this information was furnished to me by Ah Luk. I have

not been to any of those establishments. Ah Luk came to see me at the club where he gave me this information.

Club was in Electric Road. There was a young boy who

slept in the club premises.

A Chiu Chow boy called Ah Dee.
