Punishment of person asking alms in threatening manner, etc.

Amendment

or children so to do, commits an offence and is liable on conviction-

(a) for a first or second offence, to a fine of five hundred dollars and to imprisonment for one month; and

(b) for a third or subsequent offence, to a fine of five hundred dollars and to im- prisonment for twelve months.

26B. Any person who asks for alms in a threatening or insolent man- ner, or continues to ask for alms of any person after he has been required to desist, commits an offence and is liable on conviction-

(a) for a first or second offence, to imprisonment for three months; and

(b) for a third or subsequent offence, to imprisonment for eighteen months.".

Section 9 is amended by deleting "one month" (Cap. 1026.) and substituting the following-

"six months".
