No building land is affected by this resumption. However, 12 temporary structures used for domestic purposes will have to be cleared. These are occupied by 9 families (about 49 persons) who if found eligible will be offered public housing and ex-gratia domestic removal allowance. Families not eligible for public housing will be offered space in a temporary housing area in Tuen Mun and may be eligible for ex-gratia domestic removal allowance. Genuine cultivator- families who opt for a resite outside a layout will be offered an ex- gratia rehabilitation allowance of $5,000 per family but will forfeit their priority for public housing. In addition to the structures men- tioned above, a total of 52 other ancillary temporary structures comprising 17 poultry sheds, 11 pigsties, 10 stores and 14 porches will also have to be cleared,

The institution of formal resumption proceedings is recommended to avoid delays which may be caused by succession difficulties and absentee landowners or by negotiations to acquire the land not being concluded satisfactorily within the time available.

Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether the resumption of the lots listed at Annex B is required for a public purpose, namely the construction of Tuen Mun Road, Stage II, Tuen Mun, New Territories.
