Of the 112 illegal immigrants from China processed at Ta Ku Ling, 104 were repatriated in March, 3 were allowed to stay and the remaining 5 were awaiting a decision. In addition, 5 illegal immigrants who arrived in February were repatriated to China in March.

4 illegal immigrants were referred to this department by the Marine Police. 1 was repatriated in March and the other 3 cases are still being processed. In addition, 1 illegal immigrant who was arrested by the Police last October was also removed to Macao in March

Registration of Illegals-

During March, 593 persons (compared with 329 last month) registered with the Registration of Persons Department, claiming to have entered Hong Kong illegally from various sources. The figure includes 542 persons (compared with 231 last month) claiming to have entered from China.

Since 1962, the Registration of Persons Department has registered a total of 315,052 persons who claimed to have entered Hong Kong illegally from various sources, primarily From China. The cumulative total of such registrations since January 1968 is 123,889.

The attached appendices give details of arrests of illegal immigrants from China and Macao during March.
