A POSSIBLE DERATE ON HONG KONG

1. Hong Kong has been the subject of a number of questions

in recent weeks from both sides of the House. I believe that

there have already been 50 questions so far this year. While

this is a ratter for my Right Honourable friend the Lord

President of the Council to consider in the first instance,

my own view is that any matters that have not already been

covered in this way would be more expeditiously dealt with

through questions than in any general debate.

BRITISH INTERFERENCE IN HONG KONG

2.

Her Majesty's jovernment and the Hong Kong Government

both have responsibilities for the welfare of the people of

Hong Kong. It is natural that there should be a regular

exchange of views about the measures that should be taken to

further the interests of the rerulation of Hong Kong.
