(b) The introduction of Public Light Bus feeder
services
Public light bus feeder services have already been introduced to the Old Peak Road and Conduit Road/Po Shan Road areas. A consider- able number of public light buses already operate through the Pok Fu Lam area between Central, Kennedy Town, Wah Fu Estate and Aberdeen. At present the number of passengers picked up en route is quite low but as the demand increases the public light buses can be expected to adapt to the new situation.
(c) The introduction of ferry services to localities
conveniently situated to receive them
The feasibility of providing ferry services between Pok Fu Lam and Central is being examined by the Commissioner for Transport in consultation with the Hong Kong Yaumati Ferry. Company and other Government departments concerned. Preliminary investigation shows that safety considerations, having regard to the prevailing winds and currents at the Wah Fu headland and the absence of a proper pier, will prevent the early introduction of a service to Wah Fu Estate. Consideration is also being given to the introduction of a stopping point at Baguio Villas but present indications are that there will be insufficient passengers to justify a ferry service for some time.
(d) The development of possible alternative road links,
one from Mid-Levels (West) to Hill Road and one from Pok Fu Lam Road to Hill Road Preliminary investigation revealed that a road link from Kotewall Road/Conduit Road junction to Hill Road and another link from Pokfulam Road near the Pokfield Road Bus Terminus to Hill Road could be built. The scheme for the Kotewall Road/Conduit Road/Hill Road link would provide a 24-foot carriage- way with a gradient of 1 in 10. The estimated cost for the civil engineering works is $21 million and the work would take 4 years to complete. In order to reduce expenditure, consideration was given to making use of the area of the existing Elliot Filter Beds near the Hong Kong University for a spiral ramp road connection from Kotewall Road to Hill Road, but it has been found to be impracticable,
