The planning of the highway improvement schemes listed in paragraph 6 of memorandum XCC(74)50 (annexed) continues and the present situation in respect of each item is as follows:
L
(a) Garden Road Roundabout Improvements
Preparation for this scheme is continuing but the scheme is unlikely to start before 1976/77. Once started, it will take fifteen months to complete.
(b) Robinson Road/Old Peak Road and Robinson Road/
Glenealy Junction Improvements
The planning of this scheme is going ahead, but because of land problems, work cannot start
before 1976/77.
years to complete.
Construction will take two
(c) Pokfulam Road Widening (Stage III, Stage IV
Phase II and Stage V Part II)
Stage III should be gazetted as a proposed undertaking under the Streets (Alteration) Ordinance during 1975 and $3.4 million will be available during the 1975/76 financial year for land acquisition. The preparation of designs and contract documents is already underway; construction of Stage III and Stage IV should start early in 1976/77, provided funds are available. Stage IV will take two years to complete. Stage V could be started later in 1976/77, provided funds are available, and take eighteen months to complete, although the scheme could change if University land, which would make a ground level instead of an elevated scheme feasible, could be released.
(d) Pokfulam/Connaught Road West Link (Water
Street Flyover)
Planning for this scheme is well underway and detailed design should start this year. Because extensive and costly resumption will be necessary, construction is unlikely to begin before 1977/78. The project will take two years to complete once started.
