on 22nd October, 29th October and 5th November 1976. Following publication of the notice, a valid letter of objection (copy at Annex D) was received from Messrs Shea and Company, Solicitors, acting on behalf of Messrs Chamson Chau Cham Son and Peter Chau Cham Chiu, the registered owners of 1 Robinson Road.

6

Since no grounds for objection were given in the letter, clarification was sought from the objectors' solicitors, who replied in a further letter (copy at Annex E) that their clients objected ot the proposed Albany flyover at the junction of Robinson Road with Old Peak Road because this would deny them access to their property at 1 Robinson Road when travelling from the west along the elevated section of the flyover. This will, in fact, be the case since, on com- pletion of the flyover scheme the ground level routing for the section of Robinson Road between 1 Robinson Road and its junction with Old Peak Road will be converted from the present two-way traffic flow to one way westbound. Thus eastbound traffic on Robinson Road wishing to return to 1 Robinson Road will have to travel via the Albany flyover, down Garden Road and back up Cotton Tree Drive and Garden Road to the Magazine Gap Road/Robinson Road/Garden Road roundabout before being able to turn westward into Robinson Road and gain access to 1 Robinson Road. A detour distance of about one kilometre is involved. A plan showing the proposed traffic routings is at Annex F.

7

The solicitors also stated that if a "return" move- ment under the flyover at the Magazine Gap Road/Robinson Road/ Garden Road roundabout, which is now under construction, were permitted, their clients would be prepared to withdraw their ob- jection. The feasibility of providing this "return 'movement has been discussed with the Commissioner of Police and the Commissioner for Transport, both of whom are opposed to the proposal for reasons of safety.

8

It is considered that the objection from Messrs Chamson Chau Cham Son and Peter Chau Cham Chiu should not be upheld since access to the building at 1 Robinson Road is not being denied and the detour distance of about one kilometre is not excessive, Some such inconvenience is suffered by the residents of any building
