An out-of-time letter of objection dated 3rd December 1976 (copy at Annex C) from Messrs Clayton Wong and Company, Solicitors, acting on behalf of the owner of Flat C, Fourth Floor, Greenfield Mansion, Kingston Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, was received at the office of the Director of Public Works on 4th December 1976. Both dates fell outside the valid period for objection which expired on 29th November 1976. The grounds for objection were not stated. No elevated structure is proposed to be constructed on the public carriage way fronting the objector's premises.

Recommendation

For the reasons given in paragraphs 6, 7 and 8 above it is recommended that the objection from the Incorporated Owners of Bayview Mansion should not be upheld and that the proposed under- taking shown at Annex A should be authorised without modification.

Publicity

If the proposed undertaking is authorised, notice will be published in the Government Gazette in accordance with section 6(3) of the Streets (Alteration) Ordinance (Chapter 130) and suitable publicity will proceed the start of the works.

Advice sought

Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 6(1)(a) of the Streets (Alteration) Ordinance (Chapter 130), whether the proposed undertaking illustrated at Annex A should be authorised without modification.

(The Principal Government Highway Engineer (Mr S.A. BARDEN) and the Deputy Secretary for the Environment (Mr G. BARNES) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
