General Revision Road Traffic Ordinance

(ENV 25/50/01 II)

PURPOSE

To develop and implement, between now and 1979, proposals to improve the financial position of the Company.

To implement recommendations made by the Working Group on Revision of the Road Traffic Legislation.

PROGRESS MADE & PRESENT POSITION

(a) ExCo and LegCo have agreed to fare

increases, effective from 1st

January 1977, for Outlying District Services on weekdays and to slightly higher increases on Sundays and Public Holidays.

(b) Subsidiary questions raised by the Rural Committees via UMELCO on the financial position of the Company and student travel have been answered.

(c) T.T.S.D. has been asked to undertake

a survey of Cross Harbour passenger

for travel patterns as a basis consideration of further measures for introduction in mid-1977.

First drafts of the Bill and all the subsidiary regulations, except those on traffic control, have been prepared by the A.G. This Branch is obtaining comments from Departments and clearing points of policy that have arisen.

NEXT QUARTER TARGETS

Agree with the Company further measures required for mid-1977 and begin processing through the TAC, and preparation of an ExCo Memorandum.

(a) obtain first draft of the regulations on traffic control;

(b) obtain comments on

all first drafts and resolve policy questions.
