Purpose
To provide up-to-date information on the present and future availability of land for all purposes in a programme to be established end in operation by the end of 1970.
Devise acceptable cash substitute for exchange entitlements.
Progress Made & Present Position
Finalisation of consultants' briefs for investigation of potential new development areas is in hand. The Report of the Special Committee on Land Production is due to be published shortly in English and Chinese versions. The TPO is assembling material on demand for land in the various use categories.
An ExCo Memorandum has been submitted and considered. It has been decided that a Committee to advise the Governor on the procedures and scale of compensa- tion to be used for future lend resumption in the New Territories should be appointed and the problem of finding a replacement for the Letter B system studied. The formation of this Committee is expected to be announced in mid-November.
