1. You will have seen my telegram no. 16 confirming that I was able to obtain £4,000 sterling for the extension of Professor Turner's study. This was not done without much difficulty and the chances of our obtaining any further money either from Foreign Office funds or ODM funds are, I fear, fairly slim, although not ruled out completely.

2.

We are still having difficulty sorting out the accounts in respect of the first stage of the study. Professor Turner has been erratic, to say the least, in submitting claims. I mention this so that you may warn whomsoever you make responsible for accounting for the second stage of Turner's study of the importance of ensuring that all claims by Turner are properly supported by receipts.
