INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONVENTION NO.14:

WEEKLY REST (INDUSTRY)
I have the honour to refer to the letter from the Social
Services Branch of the Government Secretariat, reference (50) 33
14/3/5683/58 dated 8 December 1976 and to inform you that a
declaration was registered by the Director General of the
International Labour Office on 26 January 1977 stating that the
Weekly Rest (Industry) Convention will be applied to Hong Kong
with the following modifications:

Non-manual workers in receipt of a salary
exceeding 2,000 dollars (Hong Kong) have no
statutory entitlement to rest days.
Adult male workers with a statutory entitlement
to one rest day in every seven days may work
voluntarily on that day but there is no
statutory requirement that a compensatory
rest period should be granted.
The declaration previously made in respect of the application
of this Convention to Hong Kong has been cancelled.
