RECEIVED IN RESTRY No. 1

HKK 210/1
Dear Private Secretary,
Mr Rodgers has been sent a resolution by his constituency Labour Party asking that the import of toys produced by child labour in Hong Kong should be banned.
As Mr Rodgers understands it, this resolution appears to have resulted from a recent 'World in Action' programme. He is not clear whether it refers mainly to the origins of the toys or whether there is also a safety factor involved. It may be also that it has some bearing on present employment in the toymaking industry.
I would be grateful if you could let me have a note which Mr Rodgers can use in replying to his constituency party.
