NOTE NO
HKCK 182/4+2/1
Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs presents his compliments to His Excellency the Portuguese Ambassador and with reference to his Embassy's Memorandum of 18 November 1976 concerning the Government of Macao's proposal to build an international airport, has the honour to state that in the view of Hor Majesty's Government the construction of such an airport, while primarily a domestic matter for Macao, has obvious and significant implications for the Hong Kong Government's current and future provision for air services, not least in the co-ordination of air traffic control. The Secretary
of State would be happy for the liong Kong and Maono Authorities to discusa these implications but considers that it would be premature to do so until the attitude of the Civil Air Authorities of the Government of the People's Republic of China towards the proposal has been formally
ascertained.
The Secretary of State avails himself of this opportunity to express to the Ambassador the assurances of his highest
consideration.
